Smooth roll changes when unrolling
If a fabric is unwound at the entrance of a line, the roll should be changed regularly. The web splicing unit simplifies and speeds up this process with minimal operator intervention.
The web splicing unit is placed between 2 unwinding units and switches from one roll to the other at the appropriate time. When one roll is at its end, the end of this fabric is automatically connected to the beginning of the fabric of the other roll. The operator then changes the empty roll for a new roll, while the other roll continues to run without interrupting the production process. By providing a small buffer (accumulator) after the splicing station, the production process is not stopped even during splicing.
Fabrics are usually joined together using double-sided tape. The operator applies this tape manually before feeding the fabric into the web splicing unit. Optionally, this can also be done using hot melt if the fabric is suitable for this purpose. Hot-melt application can be fully automated without requiring any operator intervention.
