Customer’s request

The customer has an automatic in-line production process for plasterboard that is automatically stacked on a pallet at the end. Additional off-line processing had to be done for a certain type of sheets, where the sheets were manually dropped off and picked up on an external processing machine. Given the size of the sheets and the desired high cadence, this work was too heavy from an ergonomic point of view. The customer requested us to work out a solution for this.

Our realisation

Matthys designed a total concept for all of the required manipulations, which consist of :

Input line for unprocessed sheets

  • Supply of full pallets with unprocessed sheets by means of a roller conveyor
  • Automatic unstacker, including vacuum system with suction cups
  • Compact electric lift to raise stacks of sheets to the appropriate height and achieve the desired high cadence of the line. This lift in fact greatly reduced the lifting motion of the manipulator, significantly increasing the speed
  • Feed of unprocessed sheets to an external processing machine by means of a belt conveyor system

Output line for the processed sheets (after the processing machine from an external supplier)

  • Supply of empty pallets by means of an automatic pallet unstacker and link conveyor
  • Outfeed of processed sheets from the processing machine by means of a belt conveyor system
  • Built-in rotation station for 180° sheet rotation
  • Automatic stacker, including a vacuum system with suction cups, and a link conveyor on an electric lift, driven by flat belts
  • Disposal of full pallets with processed sheets by means of a link conveyor
