Customer’s request
The customer wanted 2 length cutters to make tightly wound and well packaged rolls at desired lengths for their various qualities (vinyl, nonwoven, carpet, etc.). They wanted the entire installation to operate with as few personnel as possible. Moreover, we had to provide a system to automatically sort the wound rolls onto the trolley for the desired destination.
Our realisation
We installed 2 length cutters where the fabric comes from between the two winding rollers of the automatic winding unit during winding. The desired winding tension can thereby be created for each quality (operation by means of recipes).
After winding the roll, we provided a second winding unit on which the rolls are rotated. This allows for automatic application of multiple labels to the perimeter of the roll. The label is therefore always clearly visible, regardless of the position of the roll.
The packaging film is sealed on the side of the roll on the joint conveyor system. The roll sorting system has 35 positions for the rolls to be grouped by destination.
We managed to reduce the number of operators from 6 per shift on the previous length cutters to 3 per shift through our innovative concept.
