Customer’s request

The customer requested us to build a line outfeed for a high-speed nonwoven line (25 m/min) where properly wound jumbo rolls can be made with a minimum of personnel. The quality of the often light and stretch-sensitive fabrics had to be preserved well in this process (fabrics should not become narrower). In addition, the cut edges of the nonwoven fabrics had to be made available to edge strip openers at a constant speed.

Our realisation

Our installation consisted of the following components:

  • We provided an accumulator with a capacity of about 65 m to ensure sufficient buffer capacity is available during roll changes and in case the metal detection is activated. The smooth-running aluminium rollers (diameter 250 mm) and the electric position control of the accumulator trolley (controlled by a proportionally driven dance roller), guarantee perfect tension control for both light and heavy fabrics
  • The cut edge strips are temporarily stored in adapted mini J-boxes while accumulators are being emptied to ensure that the edge strip openers are not overloaded
  • The automatic winding unit has an internal tube magazine for five 140 mm diameter tubes, which can be ergonomically loaded at the back of the winding unit
  • Automatic roll change allows rolls up to 1,500 mm diameter to be pushed out of the winding unit onto the mobile packer without operator intervention
